My child is interested but has no experience. Should they still audition?Yes! We love working with new students! When casting we take their experience into consideration in such a way that they are not overwhelmed by the part but still have fun and are challenged in new ways. Our casting directors truly are cheering you on and want the students to do well, after all we've all been there before. 💕

Do my kids have to be homeschooled to participate?Nope! It is essential, however, that they are able to attend all rehearsals, days of the event, etc. to which they are called. Currently, OWT is prioritizing serving the homeschooled community with our productions and rehearsal times, which means these are often held on weekdays during the day regardless of the season. See the particular event's schedule or contact us directly.

What is your illness policy? All families and youth participants must agree to abide by these when participating at One Way Theatre. Thank you. Anyone who is not feeling well should not be at rehearsal and may be sent home for their and other’s health. Masks will not be required or recommended. If parents/guardians wish, their children can wear a mask at rehearsals during breaks and when they aren't actively practicing, but anytime they are working on scenes and practicing lines masks will be off. During show days masks will not be worn onstage or backstage during performances. This policy is based on consideration of CDC recommendations, the needs inherent to theatre, and the health of our participants.

Does my child need to read in order to audition? For actors: No, reading is not a participation requirement for acting. However, keep in mind that not being able to read will mean that you, the parents, are going to need to assist your child significantly more at home than if they could read with learning their parts and blocking. During rehearsals, the director and/or production staff will assist your child with understanding written content when needed. For backstage: Yes, crew members do need to be able to read comfortably on their own. Many assigned tasks rely on this ability.

How long will the audition be?Auditions for Anne of Green Gables are broken into 30 minute time brackets over two days. Plan to stay for the full 30 minutes. Attendance is only needed on one of the audition days.
