Summer Camps

The Villagers of Hamlin are in a terrible predicament...everywhere they look are RATS. Big ones, grey ones, fast and slinky ones but no matter what the Villagers try they can't get rid of them. One day a man - in a fairy tale hat and playing a pipe - comes to town. He promises to get rid of them for a price and the Villagers agree... or did they??

Based on the traditional tale of 'The Pied Piper of Hamelin', this poignant musical provides a brief look into promises and the consequences of not keeping them.

Camp Instructor

Hey, my name is Joanna Heram

Working with kids WHILE doing theatre is something I truly enjoy about OWT Summer Camps and I hope you'll join me! Fun facts about me: I have been teaching & directing theatre for 8 years, Interned with Overshadowed Theatrical Productions in Chicagoland in 2022, and am an auntie 11 times over. Theatre is SO much more than just acting or tech- its an environment where participants are learning skills that will translate to real life situations and relationships. I am honored that I get to be a part of facilitating growth in your children during these camps.

Teen Assistants

Teen Assistants - a key player at camp

The teen assistants will be aiding the instructor and campers in a variety of ways,  while being mentored through the realm of technical and administrative theatre. Their help is essential, yet the instructor is working with and coaching them too. It is more than kid wrangling, its an introduction to the production side of theatre!

  • Be the tech and stage crew (backstage, lights, sound)

  • Mentor youth in learning lines, filling out worksheets, getting ready, etc.

  • Assist production departments (costumes, hair/make-up, props)

  • One helper might be cast in the show to help the kids from on-stage.

  • Joining the games we play and in general have fun doing theatre!

Important! Teen Assistant schedule is different the first day of camp. Please plan to come at 8am on Monday so you can meet the Instructor and go over the week's game plan before campers arrive. All other days are 9am-12pm, just like the campers.
